My husband just called to check in but he couldn’t believe the background music he heard over the phone. ‘Is that White Christmas?!’ he asked incredulously.
The answer was yes! And no, we aren’t obsessed with Santa around here at ACCENT, just trying to get ourselves into the groove for the holiday issue we are putting together.
While most of you readers are at the beach this fine day in August (hopefully), our team is putting together a stellar issue for the holidays, but it sure can be tough to think about turkey and stuffing while wearing short sleeves and flip flops.
Of course for most retailers, August is LATE for getting the holiday shopping done.
Yesterday I interviewed Pat Valentine about her shop, Valentine’s, for our November Browse article and she shared with me that her seasonal shopping was complete by January! Now that’s planning ahead!
So does the Christmas soundtrack do the trick?
Ho Ho Ho!

Hi All,
There is a buzz in the air that only a truly great show house can produce – tonight is the opening gala for Old York’s 18th Annual Decorator Showhouse at Mayfair and you can bet that ACCENT will be there.
Marsha Jucszak, my art director and I had a sneak preview of the full house earlier in the week and were truly impressed. We have to pick a few rooms to photograph for publication and I don’t know how we’ll ever make the choice! There is no doubt that these local designers have pulled out all the stops – each room is fabulous. We’d had a personal tour from the architect Matt Banow who showed us how he updated this sumptuous estate from it’s sad decay in record time for this charity event.
Mayfair opens to the public tomorrow — it runs through August 11th but I recommend you get there early and bring the checkbook; lots of scrumptious art, accents and furniture are for sale.
Have fun!

Kim just left my office saying “Happy Blogging “ I have been in Atlanta for the last couple of days and I needed to catch up here in the office.
Blogging — Try it! It is fun…….. How do you like the new site? I really love it. We hope that you find it easy to navigate and like the new features we have available. You can search for articles you liked, find the resources of some of those amazing projects that were featured in the magazine… We would like to see the site be a very cool resource tool for what is happening locally in home design… Accent wants to help you find the perfect architect, landscape designer, interior designer, and builder, and color specialist, materials, like flooring, carpets, tile, and specialty items you can find in local shops in town. If you have ideas to help us create that kind of site please do not hesitate to call me or send an email. Or better yet, post a blog and tell a friend about our site too.
Have a great weekend! - kathy
